Welcome to Yarn Etc’s first Mystery Knit-a-long. This is a new venture for us and we are very VERY excited about it. The aim for us is to introduce you to a range of knitting skills and techniques including a different kind, or cast on; different forms of colour work and lacy stitches. At the end of the Year, you will have produced a throw.
This project is aimed at those that can knit quite confidently but want to improve beyond the improvers lessons already offered.
Every month, at the workshop, two new squares will be introduced and the skills demonstrated. During that month, you will produce a minimum of 2 squares for each pattern*. By the end of September, you will have 36 squares. The final two months will cover the construction and border. By the end of November, you will have a blanket!
*If you want your blanket to be larger, then make as many squares each month as you like!
Dates (unless stated a Tuesday evening 7-9pm)
Saturday December 14th — 10.30 -12.30 (come and show off your creations )
A series of informal catch up sessions available throughout this time, to collect any patterns missed, or trouble shoot any problems. These will be held on a Saturday.
May 11th 2pm -4pm
July 20th 10.30 – 12.30
September 14th 2pm -4pm
What you need to do
We are sure that you appreciate that a lot of effort is involved in preparing these events, so we would ask that you commit to at least 9 of the 11 workshops. (We know that real life gets in the way of knitting time and have put in further catch up sessions if you miss the original workshop)
What you need to provide
• Cable needle
• Stitch markers
• Stitch holders.
As this is a “stash buster” project, you can use any weight of yarn you want. Obviously, the weight you choose will affect the end size of your throw.
What we will provide
• Two patterns per month
• 2 hour tuition
• Friendly atmosphere
To book a place
Each session is £20 (not the catch up sessions)
To book a place then you need to either:
A) Pay £20 for the first session and then throughout the year, pay £20 at the current session for the next session
B) Pay for the whole year up front. This should be £220 however if you wish to pay in full then, a10% discount will apply and you will pay £200
A place on this KAL cannot be held without payment.
Places are limited due to the size of the shop.
The groups will be larger than the normal workshop group.
We look forward to seeing you in January.
