Dark Side of the Moon
This classic album was released in March 1973 and used amazing “up to the minute” recording technology available during the early 1970s. Ranking amongst the best-selling albums in the world this album presents quite a challenge in terms of Hi-Fi reproduction and the low frequency sections of several tracks test both amplifier and speakers to the limit!
Our guest speaker is local Freelance Sound Engineer Jim Dobbs who amongst other subjects will be talking about Noise Limiters, the thorn in many a band’s side – dubbed “the Clockwork Orange”.
In view of the Great Yorkshire Show (although town is usually quiet) the doors to the barn will open at 7.00pm but the event will start at 7.45 with an introduction from Colin & the VS team followed by Jim then around 8.00 we dim the lights for playback of an original 1973 copy with a break between sides for Colette’s raffle.
Our iconic audio line-up for both evenings — 1973 Marantz 2270 Receiver leading, Marantz 2230 slave, KEF Concerto & KEF 104 Reference and the Vinyl Engine is a 1978 Hitachi HT550 DD turntable with Shure V15 III Cartridge.
