THE BLUE ORCHIDS
Postpunk legend Martin Bramah hits the road at the end of April with the latest line-up of the Blue Orchids ahead of a nine-track album of new material to be released later this year.
‘Righteous Harmony Fist’ will be the second album from the Blue Orchids in two years and – as referenced in the title — takes them in a more melodic direction while retaining the renowned intensity of Bramah’s live performances. It’ll be available in vinyl, CD and download options through their label Tiny Global Productions.
Bramah has added new drummer Howard Jones (Last Harbour/Ca...lvin Party) to his studio and live line-up alongside John Paul Moran (The Monochrome Set/Rapid Pig) on keyboards and Vince Hunt (A Witness/Inca Babies) on bass.
The founding guitarist of The Fall and its primary songwriter on early releases, Bramah formed the Blue Orchids with two other ex-Fall members after the release of their classic debut album ‘Live At The Witch Trials’ — with almost instant success. The first Blue Orchids album ‘The Greatest Hit (Money Mountain)’ topped the indie charts and delivered classics still in the set – ‘Sun Connection’, ‘A Year With No Head’ and ‘Bad Education’.
With strung-out keyboards weaving around inventive, discordant guitar patterns — once described as «Phil Spector meets the Velvet Underground beneath the Blackpool illuminations» – Bramah’s previous album ‘The Once and Future Thing’ confirmed him as an artist who follows his muse and continues to write great and memorable songs.
With its insistent beats, brilliant guitar work and ever-changing moods, ‘Righteous Harmony Fist’ will offer yet more proof of that – if proof were needed.
WORKING MEN'S CLUB
Brand new, new wave trio hailing from the hills of Hebden Bridge resonating sounds of the 70s with hints of talking heads and the velvets reflected in their sound. Don’t miss out...Party on!
ONE SIDED HORSE (Solo Show)
One Sided Horse will be playing an intimate gig on the 08.04.18 in support to the recently released album “Between Light and Space” at The Grayston Unity, Halifax.
The album has been in the making for over 3 years and features the musicians from Yorkshire band Embrace on all tracks.
Musically there are similarities to Nick Cave and The National but using their own sound to create big anthemic songs.
This gig will be a solo gig and will feature songs both from the album and other solo tracks.
One Sided Horse has been playing many solo shows over the last 2 years including shows all over the UK in houses, as well as gigs in Italy. He has also supported Dodgy on their acoustic UK tour, House Of Love, Embrace and Wire.
Songs that are simple and emotive is what one person described them.
Fez are something of a Calderdale institution…now in their 30+ year, there passion for experimental alternative rock has not diminished. They don’t gig much these days so we are delighted they are playing for us.
