One of the joys of horse riding is exploring acres of countryside, roaming through woodland and cantering across open grassland.
At our Farnley Ride, you’ll discover all of this and more. Set in some of Yorkshire’s most stunning countryside, the 5-mile off-road horse riding course, which starts from Field Lane is designed to suit all abilities, from absolute beginner to the more advanced horse rider.
As the majority of the ride is off-road, it's ideal for younger riders who need to be led by an adult.
Fun and challenging optional jumps
For the more adventurous, our off-road horse riding course offers optional jumps, which vary in size from small logs to bold cross country riding fences.
In 2017, we invested in new horse ride jumps, which our more adventurous riders loved. In 2018, we've even more new jumps for riders to enjoy.
Our off-road horse riding experience is also one of the few horse ride courses in the Yorkshire region that is almost entirely off-road. All you need is your horse, suitable safety equipment and a sense of adventure!
It’s a great day out and refreshments are available on-site during the horse rides.
There's no need to book, simply turn up on the day with your horse and equipment, visit the green hut to pay and sign the disclaimer, then enjoy your ride!
We ask that you respect other riders and follow our code of conduct.
Adults: £20 per rider
Children (16 years and under): £15 per rider
On the day, riders can register and set out on to the course from 8.30am, with last riders setting off no later than 1.30pm.
Horse ride location
The Farnley Ride starts from Field Lane, Farnley Tyas, Huddersfield HD4 6UQ, which is opposite the Golden Cock pub in the centre of the village.
There is a large flat field offering onsite parking for cars, horseboxes and trailers, with easy access for unloading and loading.
We do everything we can to ensure your safety throughout the off-road horse ride and we make sure that the Farnley Estates off-road horse ride course conforms to current health and safety legislation.
However, horse riding is by its nature a hazardous sport and all riders must take responsibility for their own safety, and come equipped with necessary safety equipment. Hard hats are compulsory on the ride.
All riders must read and agree to abide by our terms and conditions. Forms will be available to sign on the day.
